Mission and Vision

Our mission here at Saint John United Methodist Church is to grow disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, and to be a welcoming family joyfully sharing God’s light.

And we have fun while doing this important work! Everything that we do as a church family is ultimately about helping each other, and those we have yet to meet, become a committed disciple of Jesus Christ, to transform our world as we seek to build God’s reign in our midst. A hallmark of our self-definition is that we are open to all people, from all walks of life, made up of families of all kinds, presenting a diverse tapestry  of ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. Our goal is to be in ministry to and with as many people as possible.

Theological conversation abounds at Saint John, and it may be difficult to find a category that can define us. We prefer to remember the words of John Wesley, the Anglican priest who founded the movement that came to be known as Methodism, who once said, “If your heart is as my heart, give me your hand and we will journey together.”
